One of the nation’s favourite home cooks, Julie Goodwin will fill the Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival with the aromas of home-cooked meals and memories of family fun! Formally an IT professional, Julie won the inaugural season of MasterChef Australia in 2009, when judges fell in love with her heartfelt and delicious meals. Now a household name, Julie writes weekly columns for Australian Women’s Weekly and has opened a cooking school. Still not enough Julie-goodness for you?? Well, she’s also published a number of books including Our Family Table (which is one of the highest selling cook books in Australian history), Heart of the Home, Seven Family Favourite Recipes and Gather. We’re excited to bring this woman of many talents to Strathfield!
Diana Chan is an accountant by profession, but don’t let that fool you into thinking she’s all numbers and spreadsheets! After 4 years working at a top accounting firm, Diana decided to swap the calculator for an apron and pursue her passion in food. Taking the plunge, she entered the competition for MasterChef Australia 2017, and went on to take out first place! Diana grew up in Johor Bahru, Malaysia and brings her unique heritage to the plate, incorporating fusion flavours in wholesome, balanced and delicious meals.
Gang of Brothers is a boisterous band that crosses over several musical genres, at times deeply funky, with a rock ‘n’ roll spirit and always with a jazz backbone. The quirky quintet is comprised of 4 brothers from the prestigious musical Martinez family (Martinez Akustica) and their mate fronting the band on drums and vocals. Their culturally diverse style digs deep into the pocket of groove and their live performances are animated and energetic. Gang of Brothers will be vivid highlight of the Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival!
Sydney Jazz Collective will be bringing a smooth undertone to the Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival in 2017! One of Australia’s, most experienced and versatile musical outfits, Sydney Jazz Collective aim to provide top quality live music, and boy do they deliver. Their wide ranging repertoire of jazz, soul, blues, funk and contemporary music ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy and get their toes tappin’ to.
Budding mini chefs can join the Colourful Chef on a cooking adventure in this fully interactive class. Come along and smell, touch, see, cook and taste a range of fresh, colourful ingredients. Each participant takes home their own paper chef’s hat and makes their own colourful dish to be enjoyed after the class.
Join international world-renowned chef Gaston Souffle on a culinary journey! Kids will learn tips and tricks in the kitchen (or at least what not to do) in this high energy act full of laughs.
