A Foodie Fav!
The 2018 Food and Jazz Festival was a great success as over 10,000 people from Strathfield and surrounding suburbs made their way to Strathfield Square to enjoy a display of culinary mastery with Justine Schofield and Sashi Cheliah heating up the demo kitchen. Foodies were treated to an array of delicious food that was on offer, with the chance to soak up some much needed Vitamin D and tap their toes to the smooth notes of jazz.
Our littlest festival attendees were treated to hands on cooking classes with Foost and a hilarious show by Nino Fiaso, who showed everyone exactly what not to do in the kitchen!
Strathfield Council wish to thank sponsors Strathfield Plaza and 2RDJ for their great support of the 2018 Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival.
We look forward to seeing you all next year!

2018 GUEST LIST
Justine is one of Australia’s most recognised culinary artists, having built her reputation as a simple and elegant cook. Working with her contagious energy and a hint of French flair, Justine will bring her culinary experience and MasterChef Australia success to the table and is also a presenter at Australia’s major food events. Her TV show ‘Everyday Gourmet’ airs on Network 10, broadcasting over 600 episodes and entering its seventh season. Justine is passionate about inspiring families to get creative and ambitious in their kitchens. Be sure to watch her wondrous cooking skills being brought to the table at the Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival!
Sashi has had an unparalleled passion for food ever since he was young. Developing a keen sense of interest in cooking at an early age, he learned to cook from his mother’s café and aunties’ food preparations for the big family. Formerly a part of the Singapore Police Force, Chef Sashi attributes his success of this year’s MasterChef Australia competition to the physical and mental resilience he was trained to have while serving at the Singapore Police Star Unit. He was the first competitor to win two immunity pins in the history of the show and was crowned winner of MasterChef Australia 2018. Also known as the ‘King of Flavour’, Sashi replicates cuisines from his youth, blending a fusion of Indian, Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. Get a glimpse of Sashi’s delicious recipes demonstrated live at Strathfield’s Food and Jazz Festival!
Gang of Brothers is a boisterous band that crosses over several musical genres, at times deeply funky, with a rock ‘n’ roll spirit and always with a jazz backbone. The quirky quintet is comprised of 4 brothers from the prestigious musical Martinez family (Martinez Akustica) and their mate fronting the band on drums and vocals. Their culturally diverse style digs deep into the pocket of groove and their live performances are animated and energetic. Gang of Brothers will be vivid highlight of the Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival!
Kate Woolfe, a classical jazz musician, is known for her warm and elegant style of music combining modern classical and vintage jazz. She has performed alongside some of Sydney’s best musicians creating remarkable pieces in trio, quartet and 5-piece line-ups. Tune your ears to the smooth vocals and jazz rhythms of Kate Woolfe, the trio and swing quartet!
Budding mini chefs can join the Colourful Chef on a cooking adventure in this fully interactive class. Come along and smell, touch, see, cook and taste a range of fresh, colourful ingredients. Each participant takes home their own paper chef’s hat and makes their own colourful dish to be enjoyed after the class.
Join international world-renowned chef Nino Fiasco on a culinary journey! Kids will learn tips and tricks in the kitchen (or at least what not to do) in this high energy act full of laughs.
